Duration: 3 days | 2 nights – Location: El Castillo, Rio San Juan
San Juan River, also known as El Desaguadero (“the drain”), is a wild river expedition of a 199 kilometer (120 mi) river that flows east out of Lake Nicaragua into the Caribbean Sea. A large section of the border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica runs on the right (southern) bank of the river. It was part, with the lake, of a proposed route for a Nicaragua Canal in the 19th century. The San Juan River is home to freshwater bull sharks that also go into Lake Nicaragua in addition to a wide array of marine life and abundant biodiversity. It is property of Nicaragua and it’s the perfect place for fishing and nature lovers.
Itinerary
Day 1: Managua – San Carlos – El Castillo
07h30 Private land transfer from the City of Managua to San Carlos, Rio San Juan (5 hours). Free time for lunch not included.
15h30 Public boat transfer from San Carlos to El Castillo (2 hours). 17h30 Arrival to El Castillo, Check-in.
18h30 Alligator Night Observation tour. Accommodation at El Castillo, Rio San Juan
Day 2: El Castillo
